A nautical theme with a vintage industrial style was the basis for this concept in order to resonate with the Vista, California brewery’s original identity. The old labels had an overly detailed, cartoon octopus illustration and typography that was lacking in character and thoughtful design. I kept the original theme, simplified it, and centered the visual identity around stylized, vintage typography. The color palette was based on a pirate theme for this specific Black IPA.
